My original focus for this blog was on families and parenting – I’m realizing that I’ve gotten a little distracted. And I think I know why. As the mother of a 14 month old energetic boy, I haven’t yet had to venture out into the realm of real parenting. Sure, we’ve had some struggles and victories in certain areas like bedtime routines and sleep schedules, teething, breastfeeding and weaning, the transition to solid food, diaper rash, and other infant dilemmas, but being the mother to an infant is pretty straightforward – feed him, sleep him, dress him, love him.
But now that Joel is walking and starting to try to talk, it’s way past time for me to get my act together – I have been a little lazy I think. No longer is he content to play with his toys – he wants to be involved with me and what I’m doing. It’s time to start engaging him in simple and fun activities!
I’m going to try and regroup and return to my original focus – families and parenting. Crafting will still be a big part of this blog because that’s a big part of who I am, but I’m going to try and focus more on sharing ideas for family fun, especially things to do with 12-18 month old babies, since that’s what stage I am in myself. Stay tuned…
