Tsuro is back with a fresh new look and more complexity, but the same fantastic Zen-like energy. Instead of traveling the path of life, you will be guiding your Phoenix along its path through the dark night sky. Each Phoneix races to be the first to reach the Lanterns scattered across the board to earn Star Tokens. The winner is the first player to collect 7 stars or the last to fall out of the sky.

Each player starts with their Phoenix off the board and each turn gets to either create a new path by laying a new tile OR by rotating or flipping a tile. Each tile is double sided, creating so much more variation and possibility for game play.

After a tile is laid or flipped/rotated, the player moves his Phoenix to the end of the newly created path. If the Phoenix passes through a square with a lantern, a star is created. Players move the lanterns to new tiles and collect all the stars that were created at the end of their turn.

There are a few other elements to the game, but those are the basic rules. It sounds simple, but creating a path to collect stars that DOESN’T lead off the board is a fun challenge, especially with the added complexity of other players placing, flipping, and rotating tiles.

Tsuro: Phoenix Rising is the perfect gameschooling addition to a study of astronomy, stars, mythology, birds, and more! It requires keen analytical thinking and strategizing, patience, and the ability to visually manipulate spaces and lines abstractly.
