THE PRIZE
One reader will win a copy of the Our Best Bites: Mormon Moms in the Kitchen cookbook by Sara Wells and Kate Jones! (currently at Costco for around $15!)
A very good friend introduced me to Our Best Bites and praise the day. Before I got the cookbook, the website was my last minute go-to for everything, and I always was able to find just the thing I was looking for. Having the cookbook to physically look through is even better!
Our Best Bites was started by two Latter-day Saint women who love to cook. Their recipes are easy to make and delicious.
This sugar cookie recipe suggests rolling out the dough between two layers of parchment paper before refrigerating or freezing, and this little tip made the whole process so much easier. Rolling out the dough and actually cutting the cookies is my least favorite part…it just takes forever! Rolling the dough out first made it so much easier and faster.
The ingredients are all pretty standard and there are so many ways to decorate and enjoy!
Stuffed Apple-Cinnamon Rolls
Cinnamon rolls are one of my favorite foods EVER, and stuffed with Granny Smith apple shreds? Yum. The dough is regular breadstick dough so it’s very easy, not super sweet…just right.
The perfect breakfast…or dessert…or both…
This recipe isn’t on the website, so you need the cookbook!
Creamy Cilantro-Lime Ranch Dressing
I hope you’ve experienced the deliciousness of Cafe Rio. If not you need to make a special trip out to Utah. Cafe Rio is a fresh-ingredient Mexican restaurant where they build your burrito or salad before your eyes and it’s the best thing you’ve ever tasted. Particularly the tomatillo dressing, which this recipe imitates and does a smash hit of a job.
I’ve tried so many version of this recipe and this one comes the very closest to the real thing, it’s amazing. We have a Mason jar of it in our fridge at all times and we can’t get enough. Sooo good!
This is another recipe not on the website, so you need the book!
I’ve tried a bunch of other recipes and they disappeared before I could snap a picture:
- Cilantro-Lime Vinaigrette (my favorite all purpose salad dressing, works for sweet and savory salads both)
- Poppy Seed Dressing (amazing with a spinach strawberry salad, took recently to a potluck and it disappeared)
- Almond Poppy Seed Bread (BEST SWEET BREAD EVER)
- Pizza Sauce (uses multi-purpose Garlic Bread Seasoning (recipe in the book) and is a little bit sweet, thick, and so good. would be excellent also as marinara for dipping, etc.)
There are so many more recipes on our upcoming menu – Garlic Bread Swirls, Lasagna (tonight’s dinner!), mint brownies, apple pie in a jar, all the soups, and much more.
This is a cookbook for everyday Moms, and I’m going to get some serious meal mileage out of it. Thanks to Sara and Kate for all their hard work and to Shadow Mountain Publishing for sponsoring this giveaway!
