Many kids will eat a variety of vegetables if they’ve helped to grow them.  Thanks to our garden, my son loves basil.  He’ll eat anything with pesto.  He also now eats homegrown lettuce, pickles, broccoli and salsa (using garden tomatoes, peppers and cilantro).  Before we had our garden, the only vegetable our son would eat was corn!  Although I hope he’ll continue to try more veggies, I’m thankful that we’ve at least made some progress.

So, how do you get started?  To help ensure you’ll be successful, get a raised bed garden. Raised beds allow for good drainage, you can fill them with rich soil, and you’ll have very few weeds.  If you have bunnies or dogs, be sure to protect your garden with fencing.
