*CRAZY TOWER*
Dexterity games are great for motor skills but are also a great way for kids to spend time with older family members like grandparents! Not all grandparents want to learn a new strategy game, but they’re almost always up for something like Crazy Tower.
Crazy Tower is a dexterity/building game with a crazy twist. The game includes 4 sets of nice wooden block shapes and 3 different play modes: competitive, saboteur, and solo.
The game begins by placing a floor card with no special boxes on the table. Create a draw deck with the rest of the cards.
Each block on the floor cards has a different symbol. Plain white boxes are open to any block. Red boxes cannot be covered at all. When a block covers the box with the 4 red arrows, they take a block away from a lower floor and give it back to the person who originally played it. A box with a purple arrow means the player plays again. And the box with two green arrows requires the player to exchange an unplaced block with one from another player’s stack of unplaced blocks.
Each mode has slightly different rules but basically, each player first places a block on the highest level of floor tower currently in play and then draws a floor card from the stack, places it on the tower, and places a second block on the new highest floor level. So each floor card will have two blocks played on it.
The game ends when the tower collapses, meaning at least one block AND one floor card fall off. If only one of either falls the active player must replace whatever fell before taking their turn.
The player to place their last block on the tower without making it fall is the winner!
Board gaming can contribute to a positive and fun family culture and can provide a great framework for family fun that crosses generations. This game is great for fun family time but also individual dexterity development. The solo mode includes 20 challenges that will test a child’s patience, balance, and spatial reasoning.
