A few days ago I shared Hannah’s ribbon storage idea, and she’s with us today to share it herself! Hannah blogs at Sherbet Blossom.
I’m all about storage solutions that are both practical and pretty. My ribbons used to be stored in a way that was neither: thrown into a big, red IKEA box. The spools were unraveling. There were little ribbon scraps everywhere. The ribbon was tangled and I couldn’t find the color I was looking for. It wasn’t working for me.
To solve the problem, I bought vintage clothespins at my local Ace Hardware.
I found some darling glass cookie jars at Walmart in the kitchen area. They were only $5/each!
Using clothespins with ribbon is pretty self explanatory. You take the ribbon, insert the end into the slot and then wrap the remaining ribbon around the clothespin. Secure with a pin. Sort them into jars. I sort by color, but it would also be nice to sort by finish. (Satin ribbon in one jar, grosgrain ribbon in another.)
I love this new storage solution for a few reasons. First, it is cute. Second, I can store a few inches or up for 4-5 yards the same way. Third, they are very easy to use and way easy to spot the right ribbon in the clear jar.
Thanks to Hannah for sharing this beautiful and practical storage idea!
