*THE ASTUTE GOOSE* Strategic Memory Card Game

Memory games are one of our favorite genre of games. Everyone can play and the little kids can even win!

Our current favorite line of memory games are from Thames & Kosmos and are a step or two above your typical memory game. They have several versions, each targeting a different kind of memory practice or skill.

In regular memory games the cards are stationary, but in this game, new cards are constantly being inserted, one at a time, in the places of old ones. This style of game play uses a very different set of memory muscles!

A burglary has been committed!! To begin the game, 6 suspect cards are laid out below a number card.

Players study all the attributes on and positions of the cards. It’s essential to know that, for example, card number 2’s suspect is wearing a GREEN, STRIPED shirt, has NO neck accessory, and is carrying a GOOSE.

Remember all those details for every card!

Flip all the cards face down and player 1 rolls the two die. If player 1 correctly remembers which animal suspect number 5 is carrying, he keeps the card and it’s player #2s turn.

If the current player guesses incorrectly, the next player gets a chance to guess until it comes back to the current player or another player guesses correctly.

A new card from the deck is flipped over, briefly studied, and becomes the new #5 suspect.

As you can see, we have a lot of fun challenging and working our memories playing this game!

The first few rounds are easy, but the game quickly gets very difficult as fewer of the original cards remain.

By the end, only the best memories have a chance!! But practice really helps, the more we play the better we get at trying new memory strategies and remembering details.

Thanks to Thames and Kosmos for sharing this game with us. Be sure to check out their line of Brain Waves memory games!!!
