Quilty Quilt Love

Quilting is my thing. Well…one of my things. I have a lot of things. I love cutting fabric up into little pieces and putting it all back together. Some might say this is crazy but…isn’t that what building with wood is too? Cut up a piece of wood into littler pieces of wood and put them back together? And furniture, voila! Not crazy!

I don’t like the color orange in my house. It’s too harsh and bright and warm. But somehow I ended up with a lot of orange fabric. Bright orange, not reddish orange or yellowish orange, both of which I really like. Straight, unadulterated orange. Blech.

I pulled all the orange I could find in my stash and started cutting into it, adding in some yellows I also don’t like, and some blues and turquoises that I love. Because I love all blues and turqouises. I’m a cool color gal.

As I was sewing I thought I was going to hate the finished quilt, that it would be horrible to look at. But I surprised myself, in a good way this time. Usually I surprise myself by making a quilt I think is going to be beautiful and…it’s not. But this kind of surprise…wahoo!

I love how it turned out. It’s just the right amount of crazy and bright and fun for my boy house.

And this backing was perfect.

This crazy orange mess goes well with monsters.

Now for my next wild quilting adventure…stay tuned!
