{The winner of the Fridge & TV Guard from Parent Units is Mandy! She said, “One time my son opened the fridge and it got left open (somehow) all night. A fridge lock would be well used at our house!”

Email your address to kelsey[at]vanillajoy[dot]com to claim your prize. Congratulations!}

Before I had kids, my thinking about many things was totally wrong. For example, I thought that baby proofing was unnecessary, that it is possible to just teach kids what they can and can’t touch. While that may be true to some extent, it’s mostly just wrong. Kids touch things and get into stuff no matter what you do or say. Parent Units has some great products to help out with that essential baby proofing!

MY REVIEW

tvguardlarge250bKids love to push buttons. It’s just their nature. My son is such a literal button pusher, it’s unbelievable. So something like the TV is absolutely irresistible to him and sooo frustrating to us when we’re trying to watch!

Parent Units makes a clear plastic TV Guard that adheres to your TV and covers up the buttons, blocking them from his little fingers without affecting the use of the remote. If your TV is at child-height like ours is, spending $13 on the TV Guard button blocker is going to save you lots of scolding and frustration!

fridgeguardwhite125And while there are no buttons on the refrigerator, there are lots of other interesting things. We actually used the Parent Units Fridge Guard on our big freezer. A freezer can be a dangerous appliance for a child – I’ve heard many stories of kids putting their pets and other things into a freezer, and I wouldn’t put it past my child to try and climb in himself.

The Fridge Guard is made of very durable plastic and works so that gentle pressure releases the latch over the hook.

These two products, as well as safety products for windows, doors, electronic equipment, and more, are available at Babies R Us, so if your house needs some baby proofing, Parent Units is a great resource!
