Those two questions were driving me crazy at the beginning of summer, but I’ve gotten smarter and have discovered and embraced Del Monte’s Fruit Burst Squeezers. They’re just like those little pouches for babies except for big kids! And my big kids love to squeeze and suck their little fruity snack out just as much as baby does.
They’re the perfect lunch/snack solution cause they’re easy, inexpensive, require no clean-up, and something my kids can grab and slurp all on their own. Del Monte Fruit Burst Squeezers come in Fruit & Veggie varieties including
- Blueberry
- Apple Cinnamon (previously available as Simply Fruit, but now with Fruit and Veggies)
- Peach Mango
AND Simply Fruit varieties including
- Mixed Berry
- Strawberry
YUM! All the flavors are tasty and each offers the goodness of 1 1/2 servings of fruits and vegetables. The fruit taste in each Fruit & Veggie pouch is definitely stronger than the vegetable flavor, so they’re the perfect way to slip some vegetables into a delicious fruity snack. We’ve loved carting them around with us so far this summer – since they don’t require refrigeration and are an “as/is” portable lunch/snack option we take them on picnics to the park, play dates with friends, museum days, swimming lessons, t-ball practice, and more. And once school starts they’ll be a life saver in our morning lunch-making routine. They’re a great way to add some garden to your lunchbox!
We also enjoy them frozen but slightly thawed. Once school stars we can throw one in a lunchbox straight from the freezer and by lunch time it’ll be a cool, delicious, slushy treat; good enough to call dessert. How’s that for Mommy Brilliance!
Another great on the go option we love are the Del Monte Plastic Fruit Cups, especially the Pineapple Coconut variety. They are highly portable and so convenient, another perfect on-the-go lunch/snack solution for summer and school.
Neither the Fruit Burst Squeezers nor the Plastic Fruit Cups have any high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors, are an excellent source of Vitamin C, and gluten free. They’re easy to find in stores, just check the canned fruit aisle and you’ll find all the flavors and varieties to choose from. Check out my Healthy Snacks pinboard with more great snack ideas!
