I’ve written several reviews about the Canon Digital Rebel XSi, which is just perfect for me with 12.2 megapixels, a 3″ LCD screen, and 3.5 frames per second. This model is in the lower price range for a digital SLR, but Canon also makes the Rebel XS which has 10 megapixels, a 2.5″ LCD screen, and 3 frames per second.
For the amateur photographer, the differences in the XSi and the XS won’t make that big of a difference, and the XS is a few hundred dollars cheaper.
Whatever features you need, I say go with a Canon. Canon’s interface is one of the easiest to learn and use, which is huge. What’s the point of all the fancy features if the camera is too complicated to use?!?
