Portable Electric Treadmill

My Treadmill History

The electric treadmill has to be one of the oldest exercise machines out there.  It is the first exercise machine that I can remember seeing while growing up in the 80’s.

My grandparents owned one and it was a lot of fun for us grandkids to play with (even though we were told not to:)

Electric treadmills have definitely come a long way over the last 30 years.  My grandpa’s treadmill was HUGE!  I don’t recall that they ever moved it from its first and only resting place.

Now a days, there are a lot of options to find great portable treadmills that you can even take you with while traveling.  Although, I must say, that I find the term, “portable treadmill”, somewhat ironic because if you want it to be portable, why don’t you just go running outside which is extremely portable?

But I digress.  Some popular treadmills these days are:

  • proform 350 treadmill
  • proform 540 treadmill
  • icon treadmills
  • ironman treadmills
  • weslo cadence treadmills (more specifically, the weslo cadence c44 treadmill)
  • epic treadmills
  • tunturi treadmills
  • f80 treadmills
  • cybex treadmills
  • healthrider treadmills

The main thing to consider when buying an electric treadmill, in my opinion, is the size of the machine because you only have so much space in your home.  If its big, it needs to be able to fold up and hide from view if your really pressed for space.  Oh yeah, price, incline, and color might be important too!

Discount Treadmills

If your looking for a cheap treadmill, the best discounts that you can find is to…not buy one at all and JUST GO RUNNING:)  But if you have the money then you might consider the Proform 350 Treadmill.  Its fancy but not too fancy, small but not too small, and sleek.  And the price is just right for most people.

Treadmill Repair

Over time, your electric treadmill can take a beating.  Put yourself in its shoes–2 years of being stepped on can take its toll.  The best thing to do is to call the service number in your owners manual.  But for those of you who lost your owners manual or don’t have a number in yours to call, (because since I will never own all treadmills ever made, I can’t claim that there will be a number listed for each make and model), just Google it, or Yahoo it, or Bing it.

I’m sure you’ll find plenty of repair places that can do the job.

Finish Line Thoughts

Now go out there and get your portable electric treadmill for the horde!  Or just go running:)
