REVIEW
I love Making Memories for their embellishments. I always come home with lots of the Making Memories brads and eyelets because they’re so colorful and inexpensive. I also just discovered that Making Memories sells colored staples that fit in a regular stapler – I bought me a package and have been using them like crazy – I like the look of the fat staples (using the Fastenater) with some skinny Making Memories staples.
So anyway, Making Memories has a huge selection of scrapbooking embellishments, and to help you actually use them is the Tool Kit II, an 18 piece tool set that will enable you to use all kinds of embellishments and will make general crafting much easier.
Included in the Tool Kit II is a combo paper piercer/stylus (for embossing or scoring), a hammer, a craft knife, 3 different sized hole punches and magnetic eyelet setting tips (for setting eyelets and snaps), scissors, tweezers, glue, an emery board, a 4″x4″ setting mat, a 6″ metal ruler, and a storage tin. Whew. There’s a lot of good stuff packed into this one tool kit!
Each of these tools serve a very important function. They’re sturdy and feel substantial in your hand – an important quality for a tool to have. These tools are going to last through years of use and crafting. And each one has a pretty green fat, rubbery grip that is comfortable and easy to hold.
The hole punch/eyelet setter is great – it comes with 3 different sized tips, and the hammer is heavy duty and makes setting the eyelets a clean and quick process. The tips are magnetized so they slip into the hole without having to be screwed on or anything, so switching back and forth between tips is super fast and easy.
And my favorite piece of this tool set is the craft tweezers – they’re curved, allowing you to get in tight spaces and do some really fine precision work, and once you pick something up, the tweezers hold it there for you – they work kind of backwards – it’s awesome! The tweezers are especially great for tying little knots and picking up and placing small and fragile embellishments. They’re also great for jewelry making and lots of other little household uses.
With the Tool Kit II, you’re going to be set to craft! (You can watch a short video here to see how it all works,)
